Labour Doubts FG’s Resolve To Hold National Confab

National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria, NUTGTWN, yesterday, said President Goodluck Jonathan's inability to resolve the lingering Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, crisis and the internal wrangling in People's Democratic Party, PDP, questioned the capacity of the administration to organize a national conference.

In a statement through its General Secretary, Issa Aremu, the union insisted two national issues that added to the existing national security challenge in recent times, were the ongoing ASUU strike which has crippled academic activities in public university system, and internal crisis within the President's ruling PDP.

Aremu who is also a Vice President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, asked; "If the President, his men and women cannot resolve the university crisis given the existing country's robust labour laws and rich collective bargaining and dialogue traditions, what trust can the nation put on the administration to handle a national conversation?"
